MEET MAGGIE HERE!

Maggie Reese

Founder/Head Trainer

Hi everyone! My name is Maggie Reese, and I am the founder/owner of Lead and Love K9. My journey working with dogs began many years ago when my family decided to get a Doberman Pinscher puppy…Vegas. Even before we brought Vegas home, we started reading books about dog training, and well…pretty much anything dog related. We wholeheartedly felt that if we were going to own a large powerful dog then we needed to invest ourselves 100% in his training. Our wonderful trainers got us on the right track, and the following year we welcomed our second Dobi…Scarlet…into our home. I’m sure it’s easy to imagine that had we not had a solid game plan for how to manage two large, powerful Dobermans in our home it could have been a complete disaster! Time and time again I would tell our friends and family that the best decision we ever made was to enlist the help of professional dog trainers.

Several years later, a four pound bundle of feistiness joined our pack…Jinx…an eight week old Miniature Pinscher puppy! Phew…our household had become a three ringed circus of canine shenanigans! We kicked our training regimen into high gear, and soon our pack was happy, balanced, and a joy to be around.

As a birthday present to myself one year, I decided to become a volunteer for a dog rescue organization. Soon, I began fostering dogs rescued from shelters, or surrendered by their owners. I spent many years doing rescue work, and was shocked at how many dogs were being dumped at shelters, or given up by their owners due to behavior issues. One of my key roles at the rescue was to help dog owners figure out ways that they could keep their dogs by helping them with training advice, and I had much success doing this. Helping owners keep their dogs inspired me to pursue a career in dog training. I am still actively involved in the training and rehabilitation of  rescue dogs today, and it is one of the most rewarding things I have done with my life.

At Lead and Love K9 my real-life training system teaches dog owners how to truly love their dogs by becoming their leaders. True leaders are not harsh, intimidating, or overly forceful… they are calm, clear, emotionally stable guides that pave the way to a stress free state of mind for their dog.

The greatest reward you can give your dog is inclusion in as many aspects of your life as possible. A well trained, calm dog is welcome almost wherever you go. His life is full, and he is truly happy in his role as your companion. It is my joy and pleasure to help you and your dog succeed on this amazing journey.
